IV Copa del Mediterráneo starts 20th March 2020
The races of the Dragons continue in the Bay of Palma during the IV Mediterranean Cup from 20th to 22nd March 2020. The fourth and final event of the 2019 Dragon European Grand Prix Circuit, the Dragon Grand Prix Spain hosted by Puerto Portals, ended in the Bay of Palma with two exciting races in northerly winds and the victory of the Russian team on board of Rockanrolla.
The Dragons were originally designed by Johan Anker in 1929 and became an Olympic class from 1948 to 1972. Today, over 1,500 boats from over 26 countries are competing in regattas, with Germany leading with the largest number of boats.

XVI Rally Isla Mallorca takes place mid-March
Get ready to hear the engines roar! From 12th to 14th March 2020, more than one hundred classic cars will start from Puerto Portals to head to Estellencs and Andratx, Sa Calobra or Puigpunyent.
Miki Biasion, two-times world champion, will be the star of this edition, he will start in a Lancia Delta Integrale.
Sa Calobra with its left and right curves and slopes takes center stage to test the drivers' skills, a dozen of them cover 180 degrees in the form of a horseshoe and one even has its own name, the Tie Knot is a 360-degree turn in which the road passes below itself. The Rally Isla Mallorca is listed amongst the five most prestigious events held on the Island, next to the King's Sailing Cup or the Mallorca Open WTA Tennis Tournament.
Celebrate the Dia de las Islas Baleares
At the Day of the Balearic Islands on 1st March, all four islands dress up for their big day. The festival provides a full programme of activities for all audiences.
Every year around 1st March, the Balearic Islands organise activities around culture, sports and gastronomy to celebrate their Statute of Autonomy, proclaimed in 1983 and renewed in 2007.
The Day of the Balearic Islands offers a rare opportunity to explore the main government buildings, museums and the most emblematic places of the islands. Monasteries, art galleries, museums and buildings such as the Consell de Mallorca, Palma City Council, Bellver Castle, the Balearic Islands Parliament and the Mallorca Cathedral open their doors to visitors.
A food tasting is organised at the Sa Feixina park in Palma with the participation of different restaurants, located on the Passeig Sagrera, by the seafront, near La Lonja. At this market you will find local artisanal crafts and food.
Menorca features a tour of the Milà wind farm, harness racing in the Maó Hippodrome, Menorcan dressage sampling in es Castell and guided tours of stunning places such as the Cova des Coloms, plus musical performances.
Ibiza holds interesting activities like the Balearic Optimist Regatta at Club Nàutic Santa Eulària, basketball and chess tournaments, trotting awards and an artisanal market in the Sant Rafael Hippodrome, with guided tours of the Puig des Molins Monographic Museum.
Formentera hosts sporting events, concerts, exhibitions and serves a huge typical paella.

The Trofeo Princesa Sofía Iberostar presents its environmental preservation programme at the Marine Forum
The 51 Trofeo Princesa Sofía Iberostar held in Mallorca from 25th March to 4th April 2020 will include the first edition of the Marine Forum, a congress in which Olympic sailors, environmental foundations and companies from the marine sector will discuss the situation of our oceans and will put forward measures for their preservation.
The Marine Forum will be held at Hotel Iberostar Selection Llaut Palma on Wednesday 25th March, the official opening day of the 51 Trofeo Princesa Sofía Iberostar, one of the most prestigious international Olympic sailing events.
The Marine Forum aims to become a broadcast of the commitment undertaken by sailors in the preservation of the oceans and furthermore, to act as a platform for change.
One-day congress, two panel discussions
The congress will be divided in two panel discussions. The morning panel will bring together experts in environmental preservation and Balearic companies. The second panel discussion will take place in the afternoon and will have an international focus giving a voice to Olympic sailors taking part in the Trofeo Princesa Sofía Iberostar and leaders of interesting environment preservation actions.
The afternoon panel discussion will have the participation of Olympic sailors Hannah Mills, Yago Lange and Iago López, as ocean ambassadors. They will have the opportunity to have a debate with experts from IMEDEA (Mediterranean Institute of Advanced Studies), Ocean Care and Save the Med, together with World Sailing President, Kim Andersen.
The 51 Trofeo Princesa Sofía Iberostar will bring together around one thousand sailors from over 50 nations. Some of them are already training in Mallorca for the regatta, the first event of the European season with the opportunity to secure a place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Besides the celebration of the Marine Forum, 25th March marks the official start of the 51 Trofeo Princesa Sofía Iberostar, with registration and equipment control day for the Dragon class that will start racing on 26th March. The One-design classes will start on the following day and the ORC will join the regatta on the weekend of 28th and 29th March. From Monday 30th March, the ten Olympic classes will take over until Saturday 4th April with the celebration of the Medal Races, the final races with double points reserved to the best in each category.

In Son Servera finden die Fiestas zu Sant Antoni zwischen dem 11. und 18. Januar statt. Cala Ratjada feiert am 17. Januar Sant Antoni.
Palma feiert am Abend des 19. Januar 2020 Sant Sebastià, den Ehrentag des Schutzpatrons der Stadt, mit einer Parade ab der Plaça Cort, hier zeigt sich später der Drac de na Coca mit Trommlern und Bands spielen open air.

Christmas Fun Park in Port Adriano
From 20th December 2019 to 7th January 2020, the Christmas Park returns to the central square in Port Adriano with a skating rink and a large slide for children and adults.
The ecological ice rink has a size of 300 m2, it is the largest 100 % ecological ice rink in Mallorca. Next to it you find a big slide of 30 meters length with three lanes to go down on in a fun sled. This activity is free of charge.
From 12 a.m. to 8 p.m. (25th and 31st until 6 p.m.)
The giant Christmas ball with Santa Claus and King Melchior will welcome anyone who wants to take a picture with them. Including pets, which as you know, are more than welcome in Port Adriano.
Cant de la Sibil•la
Der von der UNESCO im Jahre 2010 zum immateriellen Kulturerbe der Menschheit erklärte Cant de la Sibil•la, ein mittelalterlicher Gesang mit gregorianischer Melodie, gilt als einzigartige Weihnachtstradition auf Mallorca.
Am 24. Dezember ist der Cant de la Sibil·la in der traditionellen mallorquinischen Mitternachtsmesse in Palmas Kathedrale und inselweit zu hören. Das Lied wird von einer jungen Frau ohne Instrumentalbegleitung gesungen. Es prophezeit die Ankunft des Erlösers und das Jüngste Gericht. Der Cant de la Sibil·la wird heute nur noch auf Mallorca und in L'Alguer vorgetragen.
Die Figur der Sibil·la steht für die Wahrsagerinnen, deren prophetische Bücher in der alten Welt konsultiert wurden, um die Zukunft vorauszusehen.
Drei Mal Klassik im Castell Son Claret
Kurz vor Jahresende ist die Planung des Castell Son Claret auf Mallorca für die Saison 2020 bereits abgeschlossen. Im Rahmen der Castell Classics werden wieder drei hochkarätige Klassik-Events unter Sternenhimmel geboten.
Mallorca, Dezember 2019. Am 18. Juni 2020 treten die Younger Singers der Salzburger Festspiele auf, wie bereits in jedem Jahr seit der Eröffnung des Castell Son Claret 2013.
Einen Monat später, am 17. Juli 2020, sollte die Cellistin Sol Gabetta mit ihrem Repertoire in den historischen Mauern des Fünf-Sterne-Hauses in Calvía zu Gast sein. Sie kann leider nicht anreisen, es wird aktuell ein Ersatz gesucht.
Und am 12. August 2020 tritt erstmalig die Sopranistin Olena Tokar, bekannt durch ihre Auftritte für die Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, auf.
Die Abende werden von den kulinarischen Highlights aus den Küchen der Restaurants Olivera und des Zwei-Sterne-Restaurants Zaranda mit Chefkoch Fernando P. Arellano begleitet.
