A series of hoax bomb threats puts the European aviation industry on high alert<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Brussels \/ Vienna \/ Rome \u2013 November 6, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 An unprecedented wave of coordinated bomb threats has placed a massive strain on European airspace and security authorities in recent days. In total, at least 30 commercial flights across the continent have been affected by the threats since the beginning of the week. Expansion of the Attacks to the Media Sector<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

<\/strong>On Friday afternoon, the campaign took on a new dimension. In addition to air traffic, European media organizations came under fire. In Ireland, the offices of the national broadcaster RT\u00c9 and the newspaper Irish Independent, among others, were targeted and had to be evacuated. The British broadcaster Sky also reported similar threats. In response, the Irish government described the situation as a likely \u201ccoordinated disruption campaign\u201d aimed at destabilizing critical infrastructure and the public.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lead Points to Extremist Group \u2013 Suspicions of Hybrid Warfare<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

<\/strong>Investigators have turned their attention to a banned, far-right, anti-feminist movement. The group\u2019s name appeared in several threatening emails, along with ideological declarations of war against a supposed \u201cfeminist regime.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Security experts and government officials suspect that these actions are a form of hybrid warfare. Spain\u2019s Foreign Minister Jos\u00e9 Manuel Albares described the incidents as a targeted attack on Europe\u2019s democracies. Experts also point to a striking coincidence in timing: Alongside the bomb threats, targeted cyberattacks were launched this week against the refrigeration systems of European supermarkets and pharmaceutical distributors. This fuels suspicions of a low-cost, psychological sabotage campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n

International Coordination and Investigations<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

<\/strong>The European Commission responded immediately and activated the mechanism for cross-border information exchange on aviation security. Specialized units for terrorism and cybercrime in France, the Czech Republic, Ireland, and Austria are working closely with Europol and Eurocontrol to trace the origin of the digital messages.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite significant operational challenges and occasional reroutings, European air traffic remained stable overall, according to Eurocontrol. Widespread delays or system failures were prevented by the rapid implementation of safety protocols.<\/span><\/p>\n
